London police have laid charges in a human trafficking investigation that centered around a violent robbery and sexual assault.
Police say the attack occurred at a south-end city hotel on Oct. 30.
The victim, who works in the sex trade, had arranged to meet the suspect after advertising services online.
Police say the man allegedly paid for services, but then robbed and sexually assaulted the woman before running away.
The case was later transferred to the human trafficking unit.
A 47-year-old London man has been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery with violence or threats,
- Sexual assault, and
- Obtain sexual services for consideration
The man was released from police custody and is set to appear in court Dec. 17.
