Sunday evening the 2019 Grammys brought along a lot of headlines. Here are some top moments that everyone is talking about;
1.Women were honoured throughout the night in an amazing way.
The Pazz and Jop poll is a pre-grammy surgery for the best music of the year. For the first time the top five on that list were all female artists. Many women won awards, preformed original music and much more. Cardi B was the first solo woman to win rap album of the year. Not to mention host Alicia Keys made magic happen by pulling up some of the most influential women on stage. Other women who made appearance include; Dolly Parton, Michelle Obama and Kacey Musgraves. Women throughout the industry were honoured on the main stage.
2. No shows
Many stars including; Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Beyonce and Jay Z. Some tension was unfolded related to Ariana Grande throughout the show. It was reported by Grammy telecast executive producer Ken Ehrlich that Grande told producers she had no time to put together a performance. Grande hit back saying he was a liar. Despite all this she still won the best pop vocal album trophy for “Sweetener”.
3. Speeches
A couple of stars were cut off mid thank-you speech after receiving their award. Drake and Dua-Lipa both had their time cut short. Drake was asked if he wanted to go back up but he declined. Some were lashing out on social media as the Toronto native was cut off right as he was thanking all his fans.
4. Fan Favourites
Fans were thrilled to see their favourite stars perform. Lady Gaga’s performance of the hit song Shallow was much anticipated by all. Diana Ross blew people away while killing her performance and celebrating her 75th birthday at the same time! Alicia Keys changed it up by straddling to pianos and performing some throwback covers. Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus performed Jolene live in the stage and made people smile.
There are many more favourite moments of the night. That include who got the award, who did not, performances and even what the stars were wearing!
